Providing opportunities for teaching-parent development, scheduling and
resource coordination, and peer-to-peer networking through the

Resources
While not an official Core Knowledge School, the Lighthouse Academy
recommends the Core Knowledge Sequence. Core Knowledge is a solid,
specific, sequenced, and shared curriculum. Parents teach as creatively as
they like, with the help of a content guide that builds from year to year,
covering subject matter throughly without useless repetition..
Community
From weekly park days (Winter hours Thursdays, 12:00 p.m., weather
permitting; see "about us".) and fields trips, special activities and
graduations, the Lighthouse Academy is a part of our children's lives and a
source of great memories.

Any person or entity (non-profit, church, etc.) may establish a private school by
submitting to the state a private school affidavit or statement in lieu. Those not
wishing to establish their own private school may enroll in the private school of
another person or entity, establishing their home-campus as an "extention" or
"satellite" of the private school. The Lighthouse Academy was established in
September of 2000 for one family, but began enrolling students of other families in
2003. It remains a small school of 40 families or less. Many of the students are
concurrently enrolled at Victor Valley College, enabling parents to obtain for their
children college credits toward an associates degree or career certificate at a cost
of $1 per class*, as opposed to $20 per unit. This is a good opportunity for parents
who otherwise could not afford college for their children.
*Textbooks not included in either case.
